Giving Back + Community Lending Libraries

Ready to leaf through some books?

The Crossvine is sharing our custom-designed copies of Peter Pan and The Secret Garden throughout Schertz. This custom printing of these books is our way of taking a part of what makes our neighborhood great—nature, wonder, exploration—and spreading it out into the community. Two hundred copies of each book will go to the Randolph Air Force Base Library on Wednesday, November 18th, where we will be giving away free copies at the library’s regular story time and into the next week. Additionally, we’ll be donating copies of these books to four local schools where they’ll become a part of the permanent collections at Rose Garden Elementary, Corbett Junior High, Barbara C. Jordan Intermediate, and Samuel Clemens High School, as well as at the Schertz Public Library.

And if that’s not bookish enough, we’re working on new lending libraries that will be going in throughout The Crossvine. These mini outdoor book exchanges are currently planned to be installed at various gathering spots in the neighborhood, with the first at the mail kiosk in the main greenbelt. These lending libraries allow residents to take a new book to read, or leave old books that they’ve already read for their neighbors to enjoy. Look for our special printings of The Secret Garden and Peter Pan in each library station!
