Fall Is Here and It’s Park Season

Oct 18 2019

It’s finally fall in Schertz and in Texas, this means we are entering the best weather of the year. Get excited for nature walks, trick-or-treating, golf and fall-themed festivals!

Our friends at the City of Schertz Parks and Recreation Department have blessed us with the award-winning Schertz Parks & Rec FUN Guide—updated for fall and winter 2019.

This is the best how-to, what-to-do guide on family-friendly activity in Schertz. In it, you’ll find park maps, community events, youth sports schedules, pavilion rentals, a full spread of nature education programs, and a very helpful section on how to get the most out of the Schertz Public Library.

It’s a lot for a small town, which says a lot. Schertz is a mighty fine place to live, and if you’re short on things to do, the FUN Guide will show you the way.

Here’s what they had to say about our very own Heritage Oaks Park:

“This 13-acre park is a truly unique site, with hundreds of heritage-sized oak and cedar elm trees. This park offers a tranquil walking path through the woods, picnic facilities, and a picturesque pond.”

Let’s get ready for Halloween

We are approaching a special time. Not only is it candy and costume season, but it’s also outrageous decoration season. When all three come together on the last day of October, it makes for a witch’s brew of community, family, and fun.

Every year the Schertz Fire Rescue hosts Trunk-or-Treat, a wonderfully fun community event designed to do one thing: get kids candy by the truckload. There will be hayrides, a haunted bus, and what is sure to be one of the most inventive Halloween activities ever created—zombie laser tag.

Truck-or-Treat is happening on October 26th, at Pickrell Park from 5-8 pm. The costume contest starts at 5:30.
